Health & Wellbeing
Sandur Kushala Kala Kendra believes that the wellbeing of our artisans and staff is foundational to building a strong, sustainable community. Our health initiatives are designed not only to provide support during illness but to foster a culture of preventive healthcare, awareness, and long-term wellness.
Through the support of the Sandur Group's hospital, Arogya, the Kendra ensures that artisans and staff have access to subsidised medicines and free medical check-ups. These services are provided with dignity and care, making quality healthcare accessible to all members of the Kendra family.

In addition to routine health support, all Kendra staff are enrolled in health insurance schemes, offering a critical safety net for medical expenses. Artisans and staff are also covered under the Employee State Insurance health schemes, which further strengthens their access to essential medical care, maternity benefits, and sickness coverage.
To promote a proactive approach to health, the Kendra regularly hosts health awareness camps in collaboration with the Sandur Group. These camps address issues such as nutrition, women’s health, mental wellness, hygiene, and lifestyle-related diseases. They are designed to empower the community with knowledge and encourage early detection and treatment.
The Government Hospital of Sandur also partners with the Kendra to conduct medical camps on its premises, creating an important link between public healthcare services and artisan welfare. These collaborations ensure a wider reach of medical facilities and reinforce the importance of community-led health interventions.
Together, these efforts reflect a deep and enduring commitment to the holistic wellbeing of those who form the heart of our organization. By prioritizing health, we not only support the individuals who sustain our craft traditions but also contribute to a healthier, more equitable society.
Participation in sports activities, such as inter-departmental tournaments, fitness challenges, or community sports events, enhances employee physical health, reducing stress and improving mental resilience. These activities foster teamwork, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging, strengthening interpersonal relationships among staff. Sandur Group organizes events like badminton matches, yoga sessions, or running, chess, carrom, drawing, singing, fashion shows and other cultural activities.
Moreover, Kendra’s emphasis on sports supports mental well-being, boosting creativity and focus, which are vital for artisans and staff engaged in intricate crafts like natural dyeing or khadi weaving. Regular physical activity can enhance productivity, reduce absenteeism, and contribute to a positive workplace environment. By integrating sports into its organizational culture, Kendra ensures that its commitment to sustainability extends to the health and happiness of its people, reinforcing the idea that a thriving workforce is key to a thriving mission.
