Emphasizing Legacy and Impact
Sandur Kushala Kala Kendra ( SKKK ) has been honoured with several national and
international recognitions over the years, reflecting its steadfast commitment to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of craft and rural artisanship.
The Kendra is a registered institution with the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of MSME, Government of India, and holds an official Khadi Mark certification affirming its commitment to sustainable, indigenous textile practices.

Global Recognition for Lambani Artisans
In July 2023, SKKK, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, achieved a Guinness World Record for the “Largest Display of Lambani Items” during the Cultural Track of the G20 Summit held in Hampi. This historic event provided a global platform for Lambani artisans to showcase their creativity, interact with international delegates, and engage with a wider cultural audience.
UNESCO and National Honours for Artistic Excellence

In 2013, the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, awarded SKKK a National Merit Certificate for excellence in Banjara wall-hanging design.

SKKK has been awarded the prestigious UNESCO Seal of Excellence for Handicrafts in South Asia twice, in 2004 and 2012, for upholding high standards in design, quality, and cultural authenticity.

GI Tag Recognition for Sandur's Banjara Craft
In 2008, the Banjara embroidery tradition practiced by Sandur Kendra received Geographical Indication (GI) Tag No. 134, officially recognising it as a unique craft native to the region. This was achieved with support from the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation (KSHDC), under the Government of India’s Intellectual Property Rights initiative.
National Awards for Excellence in Banjara Embroidery

In 2004, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development honoured SKKK with a National Excellence Award for Banjara embroidery.

In 2002, Ms. Shanta Bai of SAndur Kendra a Master artisan was presented the National Award by the President of India for an exceptional Banjara embroidered wall-hanging.
SKKK is also a proud recipient of the Craftmark certification from the All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association (AIACA), which authenticates the handmade, traditional nature of its mirror and embroidery products.
Over the years, SKKK has actively partnered with leading institutions such as NABARD Bengaluru, AIACA, KSHDC (Cauvery), DC Handicrafts, the Ministry of Textiles (GoI), the Central Silk Board, Silk Mark of India, the Central Silk Technological Research Institute (Dharwad), Dastkar (New Delhi), Craft Councils across India and the Fair Trade Forum India. These associations have played a pivotal role in advancing SKKK’s mission and supporting the artisan community at large.
