The story of Sandur Kushala Kala Kendra is the one of preserving India’s traditional crafts & empowering the artisans who sustain them. Rooted in the Sandur region of Karnataka in India the Kendra has become a hub where crafts are celebrated and carried forward, safeguarding the heritage and ensuring that craft continues to inspire, adapt, and find relevance in today’s world.
Sandur Kendra is a registered Society since 1988 and works with over 500 artisans empowering them for over 40 years. It manufactures over 300 unique products such as cane & bamboo furnitures, khadi fabric, sandur lambani embroidered garments, home furnishings, accessaries & jewellery .

The Lambani Women, from 12 women in the 1970s at Susheelanagar Thanda to hundreds today, their embroidery tells stories of resilience and heritage.
The Khadi Weavers, continuing the Gandhian legacy, artisans at our KVIC registered institution have been hand-spinning and weaving Khadi since 1991, keeping alive the spirit of self-reliance and simplicity.
The Medar Artisans, traditional bamboo weavers crafting baskets and furniture that carry their ancestral legacy.
The Stone Carvers, inspired by Hampi’s sculptures, they shape stone into divine and decorative forms.
The Natural Dyers & Block Printers, using plant-based dyes and hand-carved blocks, they revive sustainable, time-honoured textile traditions.
Different forms of craft forms are practised such as Sandur Lambani embroidery, khadi, block printing, cane and bamboo furniture and stone carving. Sandur Kendra is a Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) registered institution since 1991.
The fabric is crafted from cotton yarn and enriched with natural dyeing, block printing, and Sandur Lambani embroidery for added value. All the value-added actives are undertaken with in the Kendra.
